About K Legacy
A family-owned company, illuminating outdoor spaces.
K Legacy Lighting was founded by Ethan and Allie Knowles, a family in Van Alstyne serving homeowners across North Texas.
Ethan's background as a firefighter and paramedic shaped the way we approach every project: with preparation, safety, dependability, and care for the people we serve.
Ethan's brother Zach joined as co-owner after he and his wife Jaycee moved their family back to Texas to be closer to home and build something alongside family. Zach brings a builder's hands and a maker's eye — years of hands-on work on his own property and others', and a background in business and songwriting before that. The two were raised by an engineer and an artist, a father and mother who taught them to work hard, love the outdoors, and take care of what they've been given. That inheritance shows up in how we work: precision and craft, held together.
We design, install, and maintain custom landscape, architectural, and holiday lighting. We stay hands-on so every client gets clear communication and careful attention from start to finish.
We seek not only to push back darkness through beauty and craftsmanship, but to operate in a way that reflects hope, integrity, and care in every relationship.

Every project is custom, so pricing depends on the size of your property, what you want lit, and the scope of the system. Projects typically start at $2,500, with most landing around $15,000. Larger or more complex properties can run higher depending on scope. We come out for a free consultation, walk the property with you, and put together a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits. You will know the full price before any work begins. No surprises. Please contact us for your free consultation.
Yes. We design the system, select the fixtures, and handle the wiring, transformer, and installation. We work with professional-grade low-voltage equipment and keep the installation clean so the system holds up for years.
We evaluate existing low-voltage systems individually. Some systems can be repaired or upgraded, while others may require a more extensive redesign. Contact us with details about the system and the issues you are experiencing.
Yes. With our transparent pricing, the money that goes to building your system buys you the system. There are no hidden leasing fees. Year one of your service agreement reflects the lights purchase and the service charge. If you come back to us in future seasons, your payment is the service charge only. We would rather earn your repeat business through service quality than by owning your lighting system.

Holiday lighting installations run in the fall. Calendars fill up, so reaching out early in the year gives you the most flexibility on your install window.
Yes. Our holiday lighting service covers the design, the installation, support during the season if something needs attention, and removal once the season ends.
Architectural lighting highlights your home's structure like rooflines, columns, stone, and facade details. Landscape lighting brings depth to trees, gardens, and pathways. Most of our systems combine both so the whole property looks right after dark.
Installation timing depends on the size and complexity of the project. Design and consultation happen beforehand, and we explain the expected schedule before work begins.
